Hello everyone, here some pictures that I made in the last days: the baby blanket that is flying to Australia, some finds from the flea market and one of my favorite part of the day: the breakfast on the balcony.

As usual, today just a few pics..

Come al solito, oggi solo qualche foto..

If you are following this blog for long, you already know about my passion for crochet and vintage. Well, imagine for a moment to find an amazing item that can combine this two passions in one. The result may be this gorgeous bedspread that I found with my grandma during one of our flea market tours. I've been surprised and as a "crocheter" slightly offended from the silly price of this gorgeousness! I can't imagine all the work required from this Lady (I suppose that was a Lady!) to make it. But I'm happy about this little "treasure" that my grandma bought for me, I'm for sure able to appreciate this masterpiece.

Ilaria Chiaratti 2011

I'm very happy to introduce you a new, lovely, IDA Lifestyle project: the "Sweet dreams" pillowcase!
You can find it here in my Etsy shop and it's available now! It's a 100% cotton pillowcase with some nice crochet inserts, to give to your bed an original "handmade touch". For having sweet dreams every night!

A new crochet cushion ready for my Etsy shop. This time I didn't choose a white base, but a black one..the darker side of me! What do you think?
See you tomorrow with "Flickr says it's Friday"!

Ci vediamo domani con "Flickr says it's Friday"!

..and for today that's all!
..e per oggi è tutto!!
(I'm sorry, I'm exhausted! Mi dispiace, sono esausta!)

Ilaria Chiaratti 2011

It's really simple make me feel happy. All I need is the sunshine that floods into my apartment, a new crochet cushion or a hunt in my favourite thrift shop..and of course some good music, good food and my loved one.
But let's begin from the sun..one of the thing that I like most about this apartment is that is exposed at east, so we have sun from the morning to the first afternoon. It's a joy and for me is priceless. I love open the livingroom door and see all my colors, my garland hangs by the window and my flowers..in that kind of days I'm always in a good mood!
Another thing that make me happy is when I finish a crochet item. If some of you makes this kind of crafts, you know exactly what I mean. It's always exciting, maybe after weeks or months, finally see the fruits of one's labours. And for me it means wander around for my apartment, finding the right place for the new arrive, and make a lot of pictures of it! This new cushion that I've just finished is inspired by a beautiful blanket that you can see here or in Dottie Angel blog. She was so lucky to find this beautiful piece in a thrift shop for just 3 bucks..so lucky!!
And that's another thing..wander around for thrift shops and discover forgot treasures. Something that for someone is just rubbish for someone else is a precious finding. Once per month I try to go to my favourite second hand shop and looking for something that could be nice in my apartment. And I'm never disappointed!

I have to apologize because in these days I'm not active on my blog. But the truth is that I have a lot of things to do for my interior styling school and at the end of the day I'm exhausted.
But what's the best way to start the day positively? Have the breakfast at the sun and read that we are in 200! Thank you!

Ilaria Chiaratti 2011

Grazie!

Hello everyone and happy monday!
Well, let's start this week with the column "This week on my coffe table" (do you remember last week?).This week I've decided to share with you a very inspiring book and a magazine.

I've bought this japanese craft book on Etsy few months ago. The japanese title for me is incomprehensible (*) and apparently the translation is "Crochet daily wear clothes". That's the title that you can see on the Etsy shop where I bought it!
Anyway the book is really nice, the pictures have this airy japanese style and the patterns are quite simple. The instructions are in japanese, but there are some explanations pages about the different kind of stitches. I didn't try yet to make something, but maybe now that is on my coffe table, is a good chance to start! I'm in love for the two clothes that you can see in the pictures..and what about the front page?

The magazine is a kind of "gift" from my lovely husband. Alberto knows that when is abroad for his business trips, he shall bring home as a souvenir interior design magazines!
"Hus & Hem" comes from Sweden and I remember that when I went to Stockolm last year I bought the same magazine. As you can see from the pictures, it represents the perfect "nordic style"..is so inspiring! All this light, these white elements combined with some fresh colors..And there are also some DIY on the same style. If I would live in Sweden this could be a nice magazine to work for!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my review, see you next monday with other books and magazines!

*
Looking on "WordReference", one of my best sources for english words, I've ran into this: a way to say "incomprehensible language" is "double Dutch"..anyone can tell me if it's true? Thank's! ;-)

Ilaria Chiaratti 2011

Ciao a tutti e felice lunedì!

I know, maybe some of you are thinking: a teapot cosy? Is so "old fashion", my grandma has one! Well, I love this nice retro things! So I made one for me and now is available in my Etsy shop.
As usual you can convo me and we can decide together the colors and the size.
And remember: "Keep calm and make tea"!

Ilaria Chiaratti 2011

E ricordate: "Keep calm and make tea"! (mantieni la calma e fatti un te')

I think it's always funny, and in some way inspiring, to see how change our house during years.
Well, we moved in this apartment 13 months ago and EVERYTHING changed in this year! This is our first apartment together, our first experience as "interior stylists". At the beginning our budget was really ridicolous (!) and we tried to "build" a nice space to live. Month after month, our tastes started to change direction; this is a good example to explain what I mean.
At the beginnig the sofa was right in front of the wall, in the tv direction. That's funny, because we have the tv, but we don't have any connection!! We use it just to connect to our computers. That's why I started thinking to change the position of the sofa (I have to say "I" because my husband is not really into this kind of things..but he is very patient with me!). We have this huge window in our living, so why staring a white wall when you have a landscape that changes every day to see?!
Another example is about our fornitures: I love Ikea (also here "I"), but in our previous apartment was like living in one of the shop sets! Well then we decided to buy some vintage elements, the coffee table for example, or the '60 credenza, to create contrast between old and new.
Of course reading books, magazines and blog help to define your own style, which direction you want to follow. And in my case, also people that I've met inspired me: Ingrid and Yvonne for crochet work, Luz for the colors, Holly from Decor8 for the interior styling taste and for the "blog adventure", my grandma for sewing, my uncle for the creativity and my new work for Casa Facile (especially Giusi, the "mind" behind this magazine) that is giving me the opportunity to meet a lot of inspiring people.

So, look around, the creativity is around the corner!

today...

Hello and good Monday!
Me and my husband have worked a lot this week end to renovate our small studio/guest room. Saturday we've been to Ikea and yesterday we spent all the day home to assemble the furnitures.
Since the studio is not ready yet (I'm full of enthusiasm but I'm not so faster!) today I would like to share some other pictures.
During our Ikea "tour de force" I finally found the Ikea PS VÅGÖ! I always loved this plastic chair, but the last time that was for sale in Ikea shops was few years ago and at that time our apartment was too small for buying it.
But now that we have also a balcony I've bought it! Now is in the livingroom, waiting for the hot season (yes, I still believe that also here exist a "hot" season), but I'm realizing that is perfect when I do crochet.
Well, thank you Mr. Ikea! (and thank you Alberto, you know why!)

My new Ikea chair

Ilaria Chiaratti 2011

Ciao e buon lunedi!
Durante il nostro "tour de force" all'Ikea ho finalmente trovato l'Ikea PS VÅGÖ!
Bene, allora grazie mille Signor Ikea! (e grazie Alberto, tu sai perché!)

Have a nice week!
Buona settimana!

I'm really busy during these days..I've finally decided to open my own Etsy Store!
I wish you a happy week with this picture...my favourite flowers and the beautiful picture that the lovely Twiggs gave me as a Xmas present (follow her here and here!).

Finally, after a long (and not finished yet) winter, the first rays of light are back in my blue apartment.
I've tought that is the right moment to change the color of my daybed..from blue to white! My grandma gave me a beautiful white bedspread that she bought many years ago in Sardegna (one of the most beautiful place that I ever seen). It is hand made and I like it in my living room!

I'm also proud to introduce to you my new crochet work, a pouf that I've created last week. I'm always looking for places where to put my things, like the computer, my magazines, the crochet works..so, when I went to Ikea last week I've bought this pouf and I've decided immediately to cover it with crochet. I think it is really nice, and you?

I wish you a colorful nice week end!

Ilaria Chiaratti 2011

I have to confess a serious addiction..ok, actually more than one. Crochet, lamps and owls!
My grandma, that knows me well, just went to Egypt (yes, not a very good moment, but she was at the sea) and she bought me two adorable owls! One is red and the other one is a cute little blue owl pendant that I'm wearing right now. The red one is perfect next to my new lamp. I've made this lamp yesterday, using this beautiful '70s fabric that I bought on Etsy (here the shop). When I saw it for the first time I tought that it would be perfect in my new studio..by the way, I start planning the fornitures arrangment!
Now is time to go out, the sun (finally) is bright and shining!

Ilaria Chiaratti 2011
