This week on my coffee table: DOMINO

Hello everyone, happy monday! I'm really happy for many reasons; the most important is that Saturday me and my husband we'll go to Berlin to celebrate my 30th birthday! And what do you think, may I go to a new city without planning a photo shoot? Of course not! But I love my job and it's always a pleasure meet new people. And after Berlin we go to Italy and we can finally see our families and friends (and Kora, my dog!) after a couple of months. 
Another reason is that since a couple of days I have a new book that I was waiting for long, here on my coffee table. Is not a new book, I think that is a 2008 edition but I read many enthusiastic reviews that I've decided to buy it. 
The book is "Domino -  the book of decorating" and I'm pretty sure that will become one of my favorite! Domino, was a magazine published from 2005 to 2009 by Condé Nast Publications and the book was edited by Deborah Needleman (she was the founding editor in chief), Sara Ruffin Costello and Dara Caponigro. 
Organized by room, the book takes you step-by-step through each area of the home, with lovely ideas and inspirations. The sections are divided into easy to read and easy to access room-by-room descriptions. Each section has different style examples, then tips and decorating tricks and a section called "the domino effect", based on ideas of people that worked for the magazine. To be honest the style doesn't match completely to my taste for interior style (I'm more a "Decorate person"), but I think that is a really helpfull book for all the included tips and the beautiful pictures.

Ciao a tutti, buon lunedì! Sono davvero felice per diversi motivi; il più importante è che finalmente sabato io e mio marito andremo a Berlino per festeggiare il mio 30°compleanno! E cosa dite, posso andare in una città nuova senza pianificazione un photo shoot? Certo che no! Ma amo molto il mio lavoro ed è sempre un piacere incontrare nuove persone. E dopo Berlino, andremo in Italia e finalmente potremo vedere i nostri familiari e amici (e Kora, il mio cane!) dopo un paio di mesi di lontananza.
Un'altra ragione è che da un paio di giorni qui sul mio tavolino ho un nuovo libro che stavo aspettando da parecchio tempo. Non è un libro nuovo, penso che sia un edizione del 2008, ma ho letto molte recensioni entusiaste e ho deciso di comprarlo.
Il libro è "Domino -  the book of decorating" e sono abbastanza sicura che diventerà uno dei miei preferiti! Il libro, curato da Deborah Needleman (il fondatore ed editore in capo), Sara Ruffin Costello e Dara Caponigro, prende il nome dalla rivista Domino, pubblicata dal 2005-2009 da Condé Nast Publications.
Organizzato per stanze, il libro guida passo-passo attraverso ogni ambiente della casa, con idee interessanti e ispirazioni di diverso genere. Le sezioni sono di facile lettura e di facile accesso con descrizioni dettagliate stanza per stanza. Ogni sezione ha esempi di stile diverso, quindi consigli e trucchi di decorazione e una sezione chiamata "the domino effect" ("effetto domino"), basata sulle idee di styling di persone che hanno lavorato per la rivista. Ad essere onesti lo stile non corrisponde completamente al mio gusto per l'interior styling (io sono più per lo stile Decorate), ma penso che sia un libro veramente utile per tutti i suggerimenti inclusi e le bellissime immagini.

This week on my coffee table: CRAFTING A MEANINGFUL HOME

Hello everyone and welcome to This week on my coffee table.
This week I would like to introduce you this book, "Crafting a Meaningful Home", by Meg Mateo Ilasco (Photographs by Thayer Allyson Gowdy). 
I'm always happy when I buy some new book, especially if it's a DIY book! And this one contains "27 DIY projects to tell stories, hold memories, and celebrate family heritage". The book is really well made, every project is explained in detail and at the end of the book, the appendix collect all the images that you can use to follow the instructions. The lovely thing is that the projects are realized by different designers, so they are very different among each other and in my opinion also easy to follow. I already find my favorite project: the doily rug! I just need the right rope!

Ciao a tutti e benvenuti a This week on my coffee table.
Questa settimana vorrei presentarvi questo libro, "Crafting a Meaningful Home", di Meg Mateo Ilasco (fotografie di Thayer Allyson Gowdy).
Sono sempre felice quando compro un libro nuovo, soprattutto se si tratta di un libro di fai da te! E questo contiene "27 progetti fai da te per raccontare storie, mantenere vivi i  ricordi, e celebrare il patrimonio familiare ". Il libro è davvero ben fatto, ogni progetto è spiegato in dettaglio e alla fine del libro, l'appendice raccoglie tutte le immagini che è possibile utilizzare per seguire le istruzioni. La cosa bella è che i progetti sono realizzati da designer diversi, quindi sono molto diversi tra loro e, a mio parere anche facile da seguire. Ho già trovato il mio progetto preferito: il tappeto centrino! Mi serve solo la corda giusta!

This week on my coffee table: CASA FACILE & CHEAP CHIC

Hello my friends! How are you today? Did you have a nice weekend?
I had a great weekend: tulips fields and lovely shops with my grandma (that leaves today) and my husband. But these are some things that I would like to write about in the next days, because today is Monday! And Monday means "This week on my coffee table". This week we have a magazine and a book. 


Let's start from the magazine. I'm very happy and proud to introduce you Casa Facile (this month with the supplement Casa Facile Idee). I'm working for this magazine with photoshoots and simple DIY, and in this issue you can find many things that I've created for them. For example a very informal and easy (you can see a glimpse in the picture "riciclo glam") Easter table, using different chinas, colored candles and second hand treasures. Another easy DIY is the lamp (that actually is in my living room!) with the origami paper crane; and if you like to work with paper, there is also a tutorial to create lovely paper butterflies.  I've also wrote a review about the DDW and the Kortrijk Interieur, two events that I've visited in the past months. And not because now I'm a consultant, but I always loved this magazine. It's easy and young, and reflect perfectly my style. You can find tips about the style and real houses..every time that I read this magazine I start thinking how to change and improve my apartment! The editorial staff did every month a great job!


The book that I've chosen for this week, is Cheap Chic, from the talented threesome Chalmers-Hanan-Treloar. Another book that you should have in your bookshelf. "Affordable ideas for a relaxed home", is the perfect sum: here you can find the best ways to invest a modest budget and combine colours, textures and material with confidence.  The book is divided in two parts: the elements and the spaces. The the first one looks at colour, furniture, accessories, lighting and much more. In the second one you can see the application of the first part in the spaces (relaxing, cooking and eating, sleeping, bathing and working). Beautiful pictures, tips and styling ideas: an indispensible source book!


Well, I hope that you liked my review and sorry if this time I've wrote to much about myself, but I'm really happy when I see my works on a magazine!

Ciao amici! Come state oggi? Avete passato un bel fine settimana?
Io ho passato un bellissimo weekend: campi di tulipani e bei negozi con mia nonna (che parte oggi) e mio marito. Ma avrò tempo di scrivere di queste cose nei prossimi giorni, oggi è lunedì! E lunedì e significa "This week on my coffee table". Questa settimana ci sono una rivista e un libro.


Partiamo dalla rivista. Sono molto felice e orgogliosa di presentarvi Casa Facile (questo mese con il supplemento Casa Facile Idee). Sto collaborando a questa rivista con servizi fotografici e semplici fai da te, e in questo numero si possono trovare molte cose che ho creato per loro. Per esempio una tavola di Pasqua molto informale e semplice (si può vedere uno scorcio nella foto "Riciclo glam"), utilizzando diverse porcellane, candele colorate e oggetti di seconda mano. Un altro fai da te facile è la lampada (che in realtà è nel mio salotto!) realizzata con le gru di carta ad origami, e per chi ama lavorare con la carta, c'è anche un tutorial per creare deliziose farfalle colorate. Ho anche scritto una recensione sul DDW e l'Interieur Kortrijk, due eventi di design che ho visitato nei mesi passati. E non perché ora sono una loro collaboratrice, ma ho sempre amato questa rivista. E' fresca e giovane, e riflette perfettamente il mio stile. È possibile trovare consigli sullo stile e case vere, vissute..ogni volta che sfoglio Casa Facile comincio a pensare come cambiare e migliorare il mio appartamento! La redazione fa ogni mese un ottimo lavoro!


Il libro che ho scelto per questa settimana, è Cheap Chic, dal talentuoso trio Chalmers-Hanan-Treloar. Un altro libro che si dovrebbe avere nella propria libreria. "Idee abbordabili per una casa rilassata", è la perfetto somma: qui si possono trovare i modi migliori per investire un budget modesto e combinare senza paura colori, texture e materiali. Il libro è diviso in due parti: gli elementi e gli spazi. Il primo riguarda il colore, mobili, accessori, illuminazione e tanto altro ancora. Nel secondo si può vedere l'applicazione della prima parte negli spazi (relax, cucinare e mangiare, dormire, bagno e lavoro). Belle immagini, suggerimenti e idee di styling: un libro che è una fonte indispensabile!


Bene, spero che vi siano piaciute le mie recensioni e scusate se questa volta ho scritto molto su di me, ma sono davvero felice quando vedo i miei lavori pubblicati!

This week on my coffee table: MODERN VINTAGE STYLE and PALE & INTERESTING

Happy monday!
This week on my coffee table, there is not just one, but two great books about interior and decoration. 
The first one is "Modern Vintage Style" by Emily Chalmers (words by Ali Hanan, photography by Debi Treloar). In Modern Vintage Style, Emily Chalmers - interiors stylist and owner of hip boutique Caravan - shows how using vintage items in a contemporary context can introduce humour, flair and personality to a home. The book is divided in two parts: inspiration and style. In the first section there are some examples of furniture, lighting, textiles, decorating and collections & display. In the second section, that's about the Style, there are some practical examples of the Modern Vintage Style applied at the different rooms of the house: cook&eat, live, sleep and bathe. I really like this book, because the vintage style is one of my favorite. The mid-century furnitures have a special kind of beauty and what about the quality? 
That's why I love so much my coffee table! (btw, do you remember the story?)

The second book is "Pale & Interesting" (Atlanta Bartlett and Dave Coote, photography by Polly Wreford). The subtitle explains exactly the content of the book: decorating with whites, pastels and neutrals for a warm and welcoming home. The book is divided in three sections: pale and interesting, putting it all together and the rooms. The first section start by taking a look at the design philosophy behind the look: Keep it Simple, Keep it Relaxed and Keep it Real. In the next one, they map out the key elements of the look. Finally The Rooms, takes a tour throughout the home, revealing how easy and enjoyable it is to live with chalky pastels, earthy natural tones and vintage shades.
One of the thing that I like most in this book, is the variety of the pictures. You can find different kind of style: vintage, romantic, modern. Well, another good purchase!

Buon lunedi!
Questa settimana sul mio tavolino, non uno, ma due interessantissimi libri sulla decorazione d'interni.
Il primo è "Modern Vintage Style" di Emily Chalmers (parole di Ali Hanan, fotografie di Debi Treloar). In Modern Vintage Style, Emily Chalmers - stilista d'interni 
e proprietaria della boutique Caravan - mostra come l'utilizzo di oggetti vintage in un contesto contemporaneo possa donare umorismo, fascino e personalità ad una casa. Il libro è diviso in due parti: l'ispirazione e lo stile. Nella prima sezione ci sono alcuni esempi di mobili, illuminazione, tessuti, decorazioni e collezioni. Nella seconda sezione, che riguarda più da vicino lo stile, ci sono alcuni esempi pratici di Vintage Modern Style applicato a diverse stanze della casa: cucina e tavola, living, stanza da letto e bagno. Mi piace molto questo libro, perché lo stile vintage è uno dei miei preferiti. I mobili della metà del secolo hanno un particolare tipo di bellezza e che dire della qualità?
Ecco perché amo tanto il mio tavolino da caffè! (a proposito, vi ricordate la sua storia?)
Il secondo libro è "Pale & Interesting" (di Atlanta Bartlett e Dave Coote, fotografie di Polly Wreford). Il sottotitolo spiega esattamente il contenuto del libro: decorare con i bianchi, colori pastello e neutri per una casa calda e accogliente. Il libro è diviso in tre sezioni: pale and interesting, putting it all together e l'ultima dedicata alle stanze. La prima sezione inizia con una spiegazione che sta dietro alla filosofia descritta nel titolo: Keep it Simple, Keep it Relaxed and Keep it Real. Nella parte successiva, vengono tracciati gli elementi chiave del look. Infine nelle camere, si fa un tour per tutti gli ambienti della casa, rivelando quanto sia facile e divertente vivere con i colori pastello, i toni naturali e le sfumature vintage.
Una delle cose che mi piace di più in questo libro, è la varietà delle immagini. È possibile trovare diversi tipi di stile: vintage, romantico, moderno. Bene, un altro buon acquisto!

This week on my coffee table: DECORATE

Happy Monday! 
Did you spent a nice weekend? Saturday I've been in Germany with my husband for a quick visit. We've visited Aachen, a very nice city close to the dutch border.
The weather was great and I've took a lot of pictures. Tomorrow I'm going to write a post about my day in Aachen. But today is Monday, the day of "This week on my coffee table". 

I'm happy (for several reasons) to introduce you "Decorate", a book wrote by Holly Becker and the co-author Joanna Copestick (Photography by Debi Treloar). 
The first reason is that Holly (the founder of decor8) is been my teacher for the past 4 weeks. As I already wrote here, I've decided to enter the "Blogging your way" e-course, that Holly organized with Leslie Shewring. I higly recomend this course, for any blogger that is looking for an original way to share ideas and inspirations. After this course I'm working on my blog more seriously, and I'm really inspired by all the contents that she shared with the class. 
Another reason about my happiness is that "Decorate" didn't disappointed my expectations. On the back cover, there is a review that in my opinion is the perfect sum of this book. Kelly Hoppen says "It is wonderful to see a book with practical quotes and inspirational imagery, showing real homes that one can imagine people living in". And it's true. Page after page you can find any kind of inspirations: boards, tips about textiles and wallpapers, apartments's plans...everything highligthed with gorgeous pictures.
This is not just a book, is a helpful manual for start to "Decorate"!

Felice lunedì!
Avete passato un bel fine settimana? Sabato sono stata in Germania con mio marito per una visita veloce. Siamo stati ad Aquisgrana, una città molto bella che si trova vicino al confine olandese.
Il tempo era ottimo e ho come al solito ho fatto un sacco di foto. Domani ho intenzione di scrivere un post sulla mia giornata ad Aachen. Ma oggi è lunedì, giorno di "This week on my coffee table".

Sono felice (per vari motivi) di presentarvi "Decorate", un libro scritto da Holly Becker e dalla co-autrice Joanna Copestick (fotografie di Debi Treloar). 
La prima ragione è che Holly (la fondatrice di decor8) è stata la mia insegnante durante le ultime 4 settimane. Come ho già scritto qui, ho deciso di partecipare al corso on line   "Blogging your way", che proprio Holly ha organizzato con Leslie Shewring. Raccomando vivamente questo corso, per ogni blogger che sta cercando un modo originale per condividere idee e ispirazioni. Dopo questo corso sto lavorando sul mio blog più seriamente e sono davvero ispirata da tutti i contenuti che ha condiviso con la classe. 
Un altro motivo della mia felicità è che "Decorate" non ha deluso le mie aspettative. Sul retro della copertina, c'è una recensione che a mio parere è la somma perfetta di questo libro. Kelly Hoppen dice: "E' meraviglioso vedere un libro con citazioni pratiche e immagini da cui trarre ispirazione, che mostra case reali in cui si puo' immaginare delle persone viverci". Ed è vero. Pagina dopo pagina si possono trovare ogni tipo di ispirazioni: consigli, suggerimenti su tessuti e carte da parati, piantine degli appartamenti...tutto accompagnato da bellissime immagini.
Questo non è solo un libro, è un manuale utile per iniziare a "decorare"!

This week on my coffee table

Hello everyone and happy monday!
Well, let's start this week with the column "This week on my coffe table" (do you remember last week?).This week I've decided to share with you a very inspiring book and a magazine.

 I've bought this japanese craft book on Etsy few months ago. The japanese title for me is incomprehensible (*) and apparently the translation is "Crochet daily wear clothes". That's the title that you can see on the Etsy shop where I bought it! 
Anyway the book is really nice, the pictures have this airy japanese style and the patterns are quite simple. The instructions are in japanese, but there are some explanations pages about the different kind of stitches. I didn't try yet to make something, but maybe now that is on my coffe table, is a good chance to start! I'm in love for the two clothes that you can see in the pictures..and what about the front page?

The magazine is a kind of "gift" from my lovely husband. Alberto knows that when is abroad for his business trips, he shall bring home as a souvenir interior design magazines!  
"Hus & Hem" comes from Sweden and I remember that when I went to Stockolm last year I bought the same magazine. As you can see from the pictures, it represents the perfect "nordic style"..is so inspiring! All this light, these white elements combined with some fresh colors..And there are also some DIY on the same style. If I would live in Sweden this could be a nice magazine to work for!

Ciao a tutti e felice lunedì!
Bene, cominciamo questa settimana con la rubrica "This week on my coffe table" (vi ricordate la scorsa settimana?). Questa settimana ho deciso di condividere con voi un libro di grande ispirazione e una rivista.

Ho comprato questo libro giapponese su Etsy pochi mesi fa. Il titolo giapponese per me è incomprensibile ma a quanto pare la traduzione dovrebbe essere "Abiti a crochet per tutti i giorni" ("Crochet daily wear clothes"). Questo almeno è il titolo che si può trovare nel negozio Etsy dove l'ho comprato!
In ogni caso il libro è davvero bello, le immagini hanno questo stile arioso giapponese e gli schemi sono abbastanza semplici. Le istruzioni sono in giapponese, ma ci sono alcune pagine di spiegazioni sui diversi tipi di punti che sono molto utili. Non ho ancora provato a realizzare qualcosa, ma forse ora che è esposto sul mio tavolino, è una buona occasione per iniziare! Mi piacciono un sacco i due pezzi che si possono vedere nelle foto..e che dire del poncho della prima pagina?

La rivista invece è una sorta di "regalo" che ho ricevuto dal mio adorabile marito. Alberto sa che quando è all'estero per i suoi viaggi di lavoro, deve portarmi a casa come souvenir riviste di interior design!
"Hus & Hem" viene dalla Svezia e mi ricordo che quando sono andata a Stoccolma lo scorso anno ho comprato la stessa rivista. Come si può vedere dalle immagini, rappresenta il perfetto "stile nordico"..è davvero un'ispirazione! Tutta questa luce, questi elementi bianchi combinati con alcuni colori freschi.. E ci sono anche alcuni "fai da te" sempre sullo stesso stile. Se vivessi in Svezia, questa potrebbe essere una bellissima rivista con cui collaborare!

When I AM the winner!

I'm not that kind of person that usually is lucky with this contests, but this time I've the lucky on my side!
The sweet Nikki sended me the prize, the beautiful book "Detaljer Hemma" (by Annika Huett and Ulft Huett Nilsson)..I like it so much!! The authors (husband and wife) explored Sweden, looking for fascinating details and they collected a lot of pictures that now you can find in this amazing book.

Io non sono il tipo di persona che di solito è fortunata con i concorsi, ma questa volta ho avuto la fortuna dalla mia parte!
La dolce Nikki mi ha gia' inviato il premio, il bellissimo libro "Detaljer Hemma" (di Annika Huett e Ulft Huett Nilsson)..mi piace un sacco! Gli autori (marito e moglie) hanno esplorato la Svezia, alla ricerca di particolari affascinanti e hanno raccolto un sacco di foto che ora è possibile vedere in questo libro straordinario.

Appartaments d'amoreux

Yeah, my first Paumes book is here!!
I discovered this beautiful editions last year (I don't remember where and for what), but I immediately thought: I want them all!
But we moved in this new apartment, and then my dutch course, and then the new job and so much things to do and bla, bla, bla..I postponed for months. But last week (one evening when I was home alone) I was watching again the web site (http://www.paumes.com/) and I decided to buy my first one!
The choise was really hard..all the books are so nice and full of inspirations..at the end I decided for "Appartaments d'amoreux a Paris"! I thought that as a part of a couple, is interesting to see some apartment for young as we are and the interior styling choises. And after only 4 days (wooow!) from Japan, my first book is here!
There's just one problem: is in japanese! But honestly, who cares!

Sì, il mio primo libro Paumes è qui!
Ho scoperto questa bellissima casa editrice lo scorso anno (non ricordo dove e come), ma ho subito pensato: li voglio tutti!
Ma poi ci siamo trasferiti in questo nuovo appartamento, poi il mio corso di olandese, poi il nuovo lavoro e così tante cose da fare e bla, bla, bla.. insomma, ho rimandato per mesi. Ma la scorsa settimana (una sera in cui ero a casa da sola) mi sono messa a riguardare di nuovo il sito (http://www.paumes.com/) e ho deciso di acquistarne uno!
La scelta è stata davvero dura..tutti i libri sono così interessanti e pieni di ispirazioni..alla fine ho deciso per Appartamenti d'amoreux a Paris". Ho pensato che facendo parte di una coppia, sarebbe stato interessante vedere qualche appartamento per giovani come noi e le scelte di styling effettuate. E dopo solo 4 giorni (wooow!) dal Giappone, il mio primo libro Paumes è qui!
C'è solo un problema: è in giapponese! Ma onestamente, chi se ne frega!

Lo scorso venerdì pomeriggio ho ricevuto una bellissima notizia..
