WE in Belgium

What a nice weekend I spent!!

At the beginning of the week I saw in one of my favourite blog that I recently dicovered,http://www.yvestown.com/, this announce about a garage sale in Lommel, Belgium. I really love this kind of things, so my husband and me decided to rent a car to go in Belgium.

We decided to spend saturday in Antwerpen and the day after in Lommel for the garage sale.The weather was really great, about 24 degrees and the city was really full of people and tourists. We arrived by car and we parked near the station..what a nice building! Antwerp is a really nice city, full of great inspirations, especially in the quite streets of the city center, full of shops and cafe' (and the beer is soooo good and cheaper!). We went in this shop, Akotwee (www.akotee.be) and I saw a wonderfoul set of three geishas..I could not resist, I bought them!

Yesterday was the day of garage sale in Lommel..is so near to Eindhoven, just 40 minuts by car. We arrived and the main square was full of sellers and their items: ceramics, vases, clothes, old records, fornitures and much more.

After a quick round we decided to go to Yvonne house, a very nice and cozy house near the center. She was there with another stilist and blogger, Ingrid, from WOOD & WOOL STOOL (http://woodwoolstool.blogspot.com/). They made a very nice presentations in the garden in front of the house, with a very romantic bed full of crochet pillow and some garlands on the trees. I bought a colored bowl and one of this pillow for my turquoise chair. I also had a little talk with Yvonne and Ingrid, two very nice and friendly girls full of talent and joy. But before leaving I had time to another inexpensive piece for my apartment, a very cute yellow footstool.

I'm very happy about this nice weekend..I spent a lot of time with my husband taking pictures, finding new inspirations, discovering cities and getting to know other people.









Che bel fine settimana ho passato!!

All'inizio della settimana ho visto in uno dei miei blog preferiti che ho recentemente scoperto, http://www.yvestown.com/, l'annuncio di un "garage sale" a Lommel, in Belgio. Adoro questo genere di cose, quindi io e mio marito abbiamo deciso di noleggiare un auto per andare in Belgio.

Abbiamo deciso di trascorrere il sabato ad Anversa e il giorno dopo a Lommel per il garage sale. Il tempo è stato veramente bello, circa 24 gradi e la città era piena di gente e turisti. Siamo arrivati in macchina e abbiamo parcheggiato vicino alla stazione .. un edificio davvero sorprendente! Anversa è una città davvero bella, piena di grandi ispirazioni, specie nella tranquillità delle vie del centro, piena di negozi e bar (e la birra è davvero buonissima ed economica!). Siamo andati in questo negozio, Akotwee (www.akotee.be) e ho visto un set di tre bellissime geishe..non ho potuto resistere, le ho comprate!

Ieri invece era il giorno del garage sale a Lommel..è davvero molto vicino ad Eindhoven, solo 40 minuti di auto. Siamo arrivati e la piazza principale era piena di venditori che esponevano di tutto: ceramiche, vasi, abiti, vecchi dischi, mobili e molto altro. Dopo un rapido giro abbiamo deciso di andare a casa di Yvonne, una casa molto bella e accogliente vicino al centro. Insieme a lei c'era un' altra stylist e blogger, Ingrid, di WOOD & WOOL STOOL (http://woodwoolstool.blogspot.com/). Hanno fatto una presentazione molto bella nel giardino davanti a casa, con un letto molto romantico pieno di cuscini fatti all'uncinetto e alcune ghirlande sugli alberi. Ho comprato una ciotola colorata e uno di questi cuscini all'uncinetto per la mia poltrona turchese. Ho anche avuto modo scambiare quattro chiacchiere con Yvonne e Ingrid, due ragazze molto piacevole e amichevoli piene di talento e di gioia. Ma prima di tornare a casa ho avuto il tempo di comprare un altro pezzo economico per il mio appartamento, un poggiapiedi giallo molto carino.

Sono molto contenta di questo fine settimana..ho passato un sacco di tempo con mio marito scattando foto, trovando nuove ispirazioni, scoprendo nuove città e conoscendo persone molto piacevoli.

Saturday 22nd September 07

Saturday started in a lovely way, with my youngest child coming into the bedroom at about 7.30am and waking me up with a 'I love you Dad' and getting into bed with me and giving me a little back rub. I rolled over and gave him a big backrub, a perfect if a little early start to the day. So came down and had my bowl of cereal, home-made muesli on top of bran flakes, and then did the washing up from last night with the pan of still-warm water from last night's stove.

At about 8.40 I set off on the bike to go and visit Y, one of my Freecycle friends, who has asked for some help sorting out some woodwormy floorboards, and needs brawny people to move furniture and rip out floorboards. I got 5 minutes away and remembered that I was supposed to bring my bowsaw to lend her, so retraced my route and picked it up. I enjoyed meeting her lodgers, including a young woman from Malaysia who is working for Norwich Union, whom I taught to use the bowsaw to cut floorboards to length. New ones are being refitted to fill holes before the whole lot is replaced in a few months time.

I left after an hour or so, and went via Cycle Heaven to get a replacement dynamo wheel for Gill and then went to Bootham to go to Liz's garage sale. I found a scented candle, some Beano comics, two jigsaw puzzles, two little spades in wood and metal for digging on the beach and some fruit teas for 10 Yorkys, and a 'Freeview' set-top box for just £1, bargain of the week, I should say.

When I got home with the various gifts, I was very well liked, everybody happy, especially with the Freeview box, which enables us to get Discovery Channel, BBC3, various kids' TV channels, and probably more. Excellent!

I had lunch and then ran a bath.... using gas and the combi boiler for very hot water and a 5 gal can of warm water from last night's stove, making a good bath, not completely sustainable, but good enough. I washed my hair and got clean for this afternoon's gig and came down and packed my juggle kit for a workshop. I left at about 2.30, the party is in Escrick at 3.45, but I sped along the A59 so fast I was at the venue for 3.05. The dad and younger daughter came at 3.30, as arranged, to open the village hall and let me get changed and get the kit ready. At 3.45 the small group of 13 year-old girls arrived and I did a short show and explanation, followed by a 'freeplay workshop' til 5pm, when they were invited to do a little show to their friends. I really enjoy working with this age-group, as they are so able, and there was a good degree of success with this lot too, very satisfying. Got home for just after 6pm, tired and happy that Gill ad made a pile of bulgar wheat and garden veg. I ate this watching a programme on Capuchin Monkeys.

I recieved an email from the moderator of the CRAG website, copied to me, and sent to the perpertrator of the false 'Professor Fiddlesticks' posting last night, telling him not to use that username unless he could prove that he was the 'real' Professor Fiddlesticks! I felt really glad that the moderator is 'on the case' and had hidden the offending posts, and my replies, from public view. Hopefully the 'offender' will choose a different username! Unless, of course, he IS the real Professor Fiddlesticks!

Had another game of Scrabble and beat Gill by 50 or so points this time. Watched some Freeview stuff!
