Professor Fiddlesticks at Dunnington Playing Fields Fayre, then heading to Bridlington as working there early on Sunday.

Everything went as predicted... I got myself ready to start at 11am, and ordered a taxi to take me up to Dunnington. Gill came along, with our youngest and one of his friends too, as our eldest had gone to the East coast with Simon and his son fossil hunting. Their aim was to find a 'Reighton Shrimp' or perhaps more realistically, some belemnites.

Our taxi took just 10 minutes and I was able to get started on time... working with my back to a conifer hedge. I had a full-on day, always busy, Gill and the boys really enjoyed quite a few hours there, leaving at about 3pm. The event finished at 4pm and I got paid before making my way to Bridlington and to the BnB I'd booked some weeks ago.

I had a pleasant evening, had a curry for tea, and a walk up to the event site at Sewerby Hall Cricket Field to see where it was.

Another busy day... set off for the Dunnington Playing Fields Fayre at about 10.30 to be at work by 11am... and the day was very hot, busy and I had no rest from 11 til 4. I did have a difficult situation when a woman put a chair fairly close to the circus activities and I asked her if she could move for her own safety... and she was quite rude to me but I kept my cool and again explained that the children participating in the activities could on occasion be dangerous, and she eventually walked off, calling me allsorts of names!

But the children enjoyed it... their parents did too, and the organisers were pleased with what I'd done. I had a pint of pear cider once I'd finished, and collected a couple of bags of aluminium cans out of bins, and received my cheque, getting back at 5pm. Gill had taken the boys down to the station as our visitor is booked onto the 5.44 to Leamington Spa, so I had a bit of P+Q which was good!

Folks came back, generally in good moods. Kids ate in the garden whilst I continued with some P+Q... I had home grown potato salad and home grown cucumber for tea, and a cheese sandwich... which wasn't home grown.

During the evening I deleted loads of emails out of my inbox, and complained to Facebook about someone who has posted a York Green Festival page which contains errors and has been put up without permission. I asked the guy to either change the content or to remove the page, and for a while he did take it down. However, it has reappeared with the same misinformation so I've complained.

A good day working, just up the road at Dunnington, a really well-organised and enjoyable event. I cycled up there to start at 11am, and worked hard with 'free-play' circus workshops all day, with some balloon models being given away towards the end of the day, which ended at 4pm, so not such a long stint, but it was warm and sunny, and I had an endless stream of people wanting to try out unicycling, devilsticks or juggling. Worked with quite a few teenagers and older children, and adults.

Just before I got started I walked around the site and visited all the stalls, and made one purchase, an old 3 book set of Reader's Digest gardening books, in a sleeve which keeps them together. Cost a pound! I like old gardening books, at least as much as new ones!

When I got back I had a large pile of compostables to stow safely in the newly reconstructed pallet bin, layered with straw and woodchips.

But was called back in by Gill as several phone calls, re tomorrow's Green Festival, so dealt with them and had tea (stir-fry veg including day-lily buds, with a shop-bought pastie) and did loads of washing up, as well as the usual emails, Freecycle messages and blog.
